Welcome to Chichester Water-Ski Club

Water skiing at Ivy Lake, Chichester was started in 1974 by Tony Mortimer, Brian Newland-Baker and Keith Cooper. All were boat enthusiasts and Tony negotiated access to using the lake for water sports, thus Chichester Water Ski Club was born. Skiing continued at the lake for the next 21 years or so, with Tony at the helm and the Ski Club flourished into a vibrant family club that catered for both the competitive and fun skier.
In 1995 Tony retired, and his son, Matthew took over very successfully as Club Manager until 2000. The site was then sold to Cinque Ports, and the waterfront plus green fields behind it were developed with the chalets and static caravans you see today. The Club was finally dissolved in 2001 and skiing ceased.
In 2002, after a chance meeting between Simon Oliphant-Hope (our current Chairman) and the Cinque Ports management, a lease was negotiated and for the second time, there would be water skiing on Ivy Lake.
The new Club was sited at the opposite end to the original, which at the time was a mass of overgrown thistles and brambles; a wasteland. However, with some imagination, vision, money and a lot of time and effort, the new club started to emerge in the winter of 2002/3.
